Bill Bennet has over 25 years of experience in various aspects of the food industry. He spent 16 years with the Pillsbury Company in quality management positions. He has been director of quality for Pillsbury Refrigerated Dough Products, as well as for Green Giant, and helped establish the food supply and quality systems for Bakers Square Restaurants (Poppin Fresh Pies), a Des Moines-based franchise. More recently, he has commercialized specialty grains into new food products through innovative technologies (roasting and blending grains) to enhance flavor or shelf stability. In addition, while at Pillsbury, Mr. Bennet helped expand the food safety program which became known as HACCP or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, first utilized in the NASA space program.
Mr. Bennet received a food technologist degree from Penn State. He recently taught food safety and quality systems at the American Institute of Baking based in Manhattan, Kansas. He has co-authored three books for the American Society for Quality and published a number of articles on quality systems and ISO 9000.
