Neal Hull grew up on an acreage in Southeast Iowa. He attended Iowa State University, working as a student in the meat department of Fareway Stores. He graduated in December 1992 with a BS in marketing and a minor in speech communications.

Mr. Hull started with Hormel in January 1993 in Dallas, Texas, as a sales representative in the Meat Products Division. He held various sales positions with the company from 1993 to 1997, relocating to Bettendorf, Iowa, St. Louis, and Kansas City, Missouri. He was promoted to associate product manager in Hormel's marketing department at corporate headquarters in Austin, Minnesota, in November 1998. A year later he was named to his present position as product manager, working on the deli marketing team within the Meat Products Division. He manages the poultry, beef, and bulk luncheon meat business in the deli as well as Hormel's retail summer sausage line.
