Karl Meilke is professor of agricultural economics and business
at the University of Guelph and co-director of the Canadian AgriFood
Trade Research Network. Dr. Meilke also serves on the Executive
Committee of the Policy Disputes Information Consortium and is a
Fellow of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society.
Dr. Meilke's current research interests include the evaluation of
the effects of domestic and international policies on world commodity
markets. He maintains an active interest in regional and multilateral
trade negotiations and in contingent protection laws.
Dr. Meilke grew up on a dry land wheat and cattle ranch in eastern
Washington State. He joined the University of Guelph faculty in
1973 after completing a Ph.D. in agricultural and applied economics
at the University of Minnesota.
