Decio Zylbersztajn is a professor of economics of organizations,
head of the agribusiness program, and a member of the faculty of
economics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. As an agronomist
and economist, Dr. Zylbersztajn has consolidated his academic and
professional career in both research and agribusiness sectors to
lead a program of study integrating academic scholarship with finding
solutions to the problems of agribusiness.
After graduating from the upper School of Agronomy Luiz of Queiroz
with degrees in agronomy and agrarian economy, Dr. Zylbersztajn
completed M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics at North Carolina
State University. His post-doctorate work at the University of California-Berkeley
focused on organizational economics.
He joined the University of São Paulo's Department of Management
in 1994 and is responsible for research and teaching in the Program
of Studies of the Businesses of the Agro-industrial System. Dr.
Zylbersztajn is a member of the Brazilian Association of Agribusiness,
the Institute of Agricultural Economics, the Brazilian Society of
Biotechnology, the International Society for the New Institutional
Economics, the Brazilian Agricultural Economics Association, and
the International Food and Agribusiness Management Administration.
